When You Are Depressed And Detached Consider This

I’ve been depressed and detached in the most joyous of situations. For instance, I’m on vacation with Kevin and Sebastian and I’m sitting outside of the villa we are staying at. The patio is with red brick pavement, green chairs and a green table. I’m looking out at a palm tree it’s about 82° and sunny with a beautiful breeze. I feel a little down and detached and it has nothing to do with what anyone has done or said or where I’m at. It is a struggle in the mind that is a battle and I have to purposefully shut it down each day.

I still at times feel depressed and detached and it has nothing to do with my surroundings. It’s who I am, what I’ve gone through, struggle with. I know for some of you you might be thinking how in the world can you feel depressed and detached when you are in a place where there is beautiful palm trees, swimming pools, and sunshine? When you have struggled with depression, anxiety and PTSD you struggle with it and you learn to get through the struggle. It all begins in your mind.

I want to talk about if you’re in a place of depression and detachment what are you to do? This topic is a genuine expression of what I’ve gone through and if you’ve ever felt depressed or detached and your joy is gone what do you do? If you are a parent that has a child with autism and developmental disabilities it really is up to you to try to amplify your joy as some days are harder than others. So how do you amplify your joy?

Here are three things to try:

1. Get interested in others things like music, painting, board games, working out, walking, or even cooking

2. Go out with friends and ask them questions about their life, their likes and wants.

3. Spread the joy by smiling more, singing more, starting a relationship with God, reading the Bible, talking to him, loving him, yourself and your family more.

4. Be Thankful plus it’s that time of year! Be grateful for at least three things today and let’s try to be grateful for the rest of the weekend too☺️

Hope you guys are all healthy and well and are not depressed or detached, BUT if you are… I am with you. Blessings to you and your family and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

“I pray that God, who gives hope, will bless you with complete happiness and peace because of your faith. And may the power of the Holy Spirit fill you with hope.”Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭CEV‬‬
